ADTRAN, Inc. engages in the design, development, manufacture, marketing,
and servicing of network access solutions that enable voice, data, video,
and Internet communications for copper, fiber, and wireless networks
in the United States. It operates through two divisions, Carrier Networks
and Enterprise Networks. The Carrier Networks division provides copper
and fiber-based solutions used by service providers to deliver voice,
data, and video services from their equipment to a customer's premises.
This division's products are used in voice services, video over Internet
protocol, high speed Internet access, and data services based upon frame
relay, TDM, ATM, and Ethernet networks, connecting the network with
user components, such as switches, routers, IADs, PBX, and key telephone
systems. Its customers include incumbent local exchange carriers, independent
telephone companies, competitive service providers, Internet service
providers, long distance service providers, and wireless service providers.
The Enterprise Networks division provides internetworking solutions
to help small-to-midsized businesses to implement high-speed voice,
data, Internet, and video connectivity over wide and local area networks.
These solutions are installed in equipment rooms, switching closets,
and on desktops of users, and help to connect headquarters, branch offices,
telecommuters, and mobile users to corporate information resources.
This division's customers include private and public organizations in
markets, including finance, retail, food service, government, education,
healthcare, manufacturing, military, transportation, hospitality, and
energy/utility. ADTRAN, Inc. was founded in 1985 and is headquartered
in Huntsville, Alabama.
